Race Rockstar

Race Rocking Out and having fun at the Mann Music Center this past August this is just a great short less than 10 second clip that shows how much of a Rockstar Race really is 24/7.

Here is just a great shot of genuine excitement and jubilation from Maz when the show started. He just couldn’t believe he was there and going to sing and dance with them. Oh to be a child right! Just such pure genuine happiness on his face!

We went to the Yo Gabba Gabba concert at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia and Maz was in heaven. He got to meet and dance with the characters but on the ultra fun and cool side he went up on stage and did a little freestyle Beatboxing with Biz Marquee.

This is Race and Maz putting on a long concert for our friend’s daughter Fionna to say Happy Birthday to her.

This is a great about a 3 minute video of Race singing another one of his Songs - “White Pumas”. Good classic rock and DJ Maz runs through it at one point with a few words. This is also a song they made for Fionna’s Birthday.

This is a super short shot of Race playing on the water in front of the W Hoboken. He was making up his own song and he kept looking at the people walking by hoping they would stay and make a “concert” in the end he just played and played until his fingers hurt because he wasn’t using a pic. Then he played some more. Really nice people at the hotel and Race and Maz had a blast

Race participated in his first music concert tonight at The Tank on West 45th Street in NYC. It was part of a program called Kids and Contact Mics at the ICMC (International Computer Music Conference). Joe Mariglio http://www.joemariglio.com/blog/?cat=41 was the instructor and he was assisted by Ted “Tedb0T” Hayes. Joe and Ted are my new hero’s! According to Joe the concert was a “collective structured improvisation using their hand-made instruments, loosely guided by the instructors”. Leading up to the show Race participated in a series of interactive workshops that Joe and Ted led that established a foundation in a few of the technical and creative aspects of sound-making, compositional strategies and collaborative performance. The class was intended to help Race establish an active role with the everyday technology that pervades his life. “Rudimentary physics and mathematics will be applied to the cooperative craft of composition and improvisation. All workshops will be replete with examples and live demonstrations to provide a launch pad for the students to explore their everyday environment with new tools of discovery, driven by their imagination.” This was such an unbelievable experience for Race and Joe and Ted were so patient and just incredible with him. The other boy in the concert’s name is Amiele he was really great as well. The concert went on for about 30 minutes so I have a ton of footage but I wanted to get this approximately 2.5 minute segment up so you could see how amazing the show was. I will put some additional footage up later. Race was great and we feel so fortunate that he was able to participate in this incredible program.

This is a really quick video from a kids show we went to at the World Cafe in Philadelphia last week. The band, musician, performer was Uncle Rock a really great guy from Upstate NY. He played some of his own stuff and some covers. Race and Maz loved him and he invited the kids up on stage that is what this video is of. Maz ended up getting off the stage after one song but Race stayed for the rest of the performance. He definitely got the stage “bug”. I am going to post a longer video with that footage. But Uncle Rock was the greatest! He even sang a 7 minute Superhero Medley for the boys after the show on a staircase. Just a great guy - tops in our book!

Hey so this is a video from last summer (2009) when we went to the Warped Tour and the guys from A Day to Remember asked Race to open for them. We were hanging out backstage and Race was drumming with them. Race actually thought he was going to really drum for them. You only have to watch the first 60 seconds or so - watch closely and you can see Race and then me trying to get him off of the stage. The band was really nice and it was a great experience for him. Anna one of Joyce’s friends found this on YouTube. Once the band starts really singing we are off the stage (just an FYI).

Here is a great compilation video we made for Michan’s Dad (Popo). It is just a nice peak at a day in the life or a few days I’m not sure of Race and Maz rocking-out in the rock-and-roll room. Race all of a sudden got into Techno music. Too funny! He likes this band Wooden Art I think we heard them on Beatport I forget but I can’t find a video of them. He (or DJ Martin) made a Techno Mix CD over the weekend with a bunch of Techno artists I’m sure you know most of them so I’m not going to bore you with their names. The disc was for his Popo so that was cool and something new which is even cooler. I got to pull out my turntables so that was great. I can spin much better than I can play guitar so at least I can teach him something. Enjoy!

I was starting to feel like Maz was getting left out a bit so I found this footage of Mazzie rocking out. Just a fun quick video of him singing and playing the guitar in our rock-and-roll room or basement as it is normally called.

I found this photo this weekend of Race in full Rockstar mode last year outside with his guitar in hand on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC. That is my niece Joyce texting away next to him. I also just sync’d up my Tumblr page with my Facebook page so if anyone is wondering what this photostream is about checkout my Tumblr page at http://rambam.tumblr.com I’ve been keeping a blog of sorts to track Race’s rise to Rockstar fame!

This shot is going to be the first of a few from our annual trip to Hershey Park the day after Thanksgiving. It has become one of our own family traditions and this shot is of Race disguised as a Rockstar for dinner because he was really a Secret Agent. So Secret Agent disguised as a Rockstar. After dinner he rocked-out in their Hershey Idol contest where he sang a bunch of songs from Kiss to the Red Hot Chili Peppers that I have to pull together and post. I just liked this Dylan-esque kind of Rockstar photo.

We went to our local Barnes and Noble this weekend to see Dan Zane. He is a great, talented, and fun kids performer and you may also remember him from the 80’s band The Del Feugo’s. Anyway Race brought his guitar to the show and Dan Zane ended up asking him to join him for a few songs. It was really nice of him to do that. Super nice actually and Race was really stoked for the opportunity. This video is of one of the songs that Race rocked out too with him. Race takes a few guitar solos and even does a great Power Stance about 2/3’s of the way through. He did ask Dan to play a “rock-and-roll” song because he was into “rock-and-roll”. I didn’t edit the clip at all since it captured the whole song so you will have to deal with a little shake but it’s worth it.

This clip is of Race singing and playing his guitar to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Under the Bridge. This is from about a week ago. Tonight he wanted to “rock-out” to Arctic Monkey’s he danced and sang a long to about 6 or 7 of their songs. We kept talking about how quickly Alex Turner sang and played guitar. He was enthralled by his guitar playing.
